Rice consumption decreased in rural Bangladesh

Per capita rice consumption in the rural areas of Bangladesh has been reduced by 55 gm in seven years, reports Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

However, a rise in consumption of wheat and potato by an average six gm for each person has been noted.

BBS also found people were eating less vegetables, despite having more onions.

In 2010, a person from village used to take 441.61 gram of the staple on an average, which has reduced to 386.09 gram, according to study conducted in 2016.
